FAQ
Guild Masters
How do I add the bot?
Use Add to Discord on this site. The public invite is not open yet, while the domain and hosting are on hold. The bot will not ask for Administrator.
Is it free?
Free is $0 per Discord server: privacy controls, Discord signups, a roster with professions and attunements, events and unlimited repeating series, and attendance that keeps recording with the last 14 days viewable. Paid is $4.99 a month per Discord server and includes a 30-day free trial. Paid adds preset teams, the Absences page, officer notes, full attendance history, member pages, and CSV exports. See the Pricing page.
Which games does it support?
World of Warcraft: Forever. GuildMarshal is not affiliated with or endorsed by Blizzard Entertainment.
What permissions does the bot need, and why no Administrator?
View Channels, Send Messages, Embed Links, Read Message History, and Use Application Commands. It does not ask for Administrator or Manage Roles. It uses the Guilds and GuildVoiceStates intents, and it does not read message content. See the Privacy Policy.
Can we export our data?
Officers can export attendance as CSV from the website. A member can download their own data in Discord with /privacy export.
What happens if our guild goes inactive or removes the bot?
Removing the bot starts the retention clock in the Privacy Policy. An inactive guild is warned and then removed on the timetable in the Terms of Service. Read both drafts for the exact windows. They are still pending legal review.
Officers
Who can log in to the website?
Officers, GMs, and GuildMarshal Admins. Members use Discord. They do not log in to the website.
How do Discord roles map to Officer and GM?
A GM or GuildMarshal Admin maps Discord roles to Member, Officer, and GM in the 4-step setup. Access follows those roles.
How does voice attendance work?
An officer runs /attendance in the raid voice channel. GuildMarshal stores who was present at that moment. It does not record audio.
Can I fix attendance mistakes?
An officer can void a snapshot from the attendance page. Voided snapshots stay marked voided.
Members & privacy
Do I need the website?
No. Members use GuildMarshal in Discord. The website is for Officers, GMs and GuildMarshal Admins.
Does it read my messages or record audio?
No. GuildMarshal does not read message content and does not record audio.
What does GuildMarshal store about me?
Your Discord ID, Discord name, character names and details you or officers enter, signups, and attendance. See the Privacy Policy.
How do I opt out, export or delete my data?
In Discord, /privacy opt-out hides your Discord name from the public roster and signup posts. It does not stop attendance recording. Officers still see your Discord name and character name marked "Opted out". /privacy export downloads your data. /privacy delete stops future recording until /privacy resume. Resume does not restore history.
